Dear Parent...

This website is designed to give you information about the school. It is possible that you are considering sending your child to Ysgol Friars when he or she transfers from primary school or that you have recently moved into the area and are considering a secondary school. We hope that you find the details in this section informative and useful. If you have any questions or queries, please do not hesitate to contact us. Any LEA policies can be obtained by writing to the Director of Education, County Offices, Caernarfon, Gwynedd, LL55 1SH.

Parents whose children are ready to transfer to the secondary schools are sent forms by the Education Authority (the LEA for short) towards the end of the autumn term and asked to indicate which secondary school they wish their children to attend. This information is then sent to the school. We make regular contact with our feeder primary schools to gain as much information as possible about our new pupils to make sure that we organise our teaching groups in a way which best suits the needs of the children. We also try to group children with others whom they will know. We will always give parents and children an opportunity to come to the school, look around and meet staff and pupils before you have to decide which school your children will attend. Details of open evenings and days are sent via the primary schools from which we receive children. If you are unable to come to the open evening but would still like to visit the school, please contact me or Mrs Carys Richings, who is the Year Team Leader for Year 7.
