As part of the British Food Fortnight (20th September - 5th October) pupils at Ysgol Friars were involved in many activities to celebrate British foods, including a visit by Tesco. The year eight pupils tasted fruit and vegetables provided by the store and designed new menus for the school canteen.
Chefs from Llandrillo College also came in. They showed year ten catering students how to make beef burgers using local foods, which was a huge success. Year ten pupils also donned their chefs hats and aprons to make a delicious buffet for staff .
Many other departments within the school also incorporated the subject of British foods into their lessons. Some were working out the cost of producing classic British recipes, others were discussing food miles and producing a brochure on British foods for tourists and studying traditional Welsh recipes.
